Danya Smith frequently said on the show that she wanted to buy a new home so she could have some privacy and leave her parents’ house. She was, however, cast aside in episode 7 because the judges, Fluta Borg, Chiney Ogwumike, and Jeff Dye, did not find her cake cleat convincing enough.
Danya thought it lacked the leathery sheen and that the shoelaces’ color was drastically different from that of the other decoys. Additionally, they made light of the fact that the other two did not smell like cake, joking that the Is It Cake, Too? she forgot to cover up the cake’s smell.
Danya felt very disappointed to have been removed so soon before the finale but was proud of her achievement because four years prior, she had never even attempted to bake a cake. She made light of the fact that she had just won $10000 in episode 3—a sum insufficient to purchase a home—and quipped that she might end up staying with her mother forever.
After correctly identifying which thing was cake and which was genuine in the first round, Danya made the decision to purchase the cleats herself. When she realized it would be challenging to duplicate the dazzling hues, she utilized melted chocolate for the plasticy touch. She also made her own false laces with a pattern that resembled the showlaces of the decoy products.
Danya baked a cinnamon churro cake with Mexican chocolate ganache, French buttercream, and a layer of crisp toffee in order to take the Is It Cake, Too? judges to Sicily 1935. She made the decision to mix some glow-in-the-dark dust with the product’s natural neon hue because she was aware that it was not shiny enough. Danya’s elimination also hurt host Mikey Day, who referred to her as his “little sister.”
She is one of 10 chefs hoping to take home their share of a $120,000 prize pot on June 30. “I don’t like to leave my house and so it was such a big leap,” Danya noted. “But I was like I have to do this.”
The baker claimed to have enjoyed her experience and is now looking ahead. She now aspires to serve as a judge for a baking contest and wishes to teach other aspiring cooks how to bake.
