Discovery Channel’s newest Survive the Raft sees nine contestants set sail on a ship called the Acali II for 21 days. The group of strangers has to live and work together in the social experiment designed by the show’s makers. Bodybuilder Elliot Capella, who we are going to talk about now, is one of the contenders on the show. Survive the Raft premiered on 30 July 2023, promising there will be nine episodes in total. Of course, they said, viewers may also watch the show on catch-up via the Discovery+ app.
Elliot Capella, like everyone on the show, has been excited about people watching his journey on the show. When he was finally allowed to tell people about it on 13 April 2023, he took to his social media to gush “Remember when I disappeared for a while last summer? Well, it’s finally here #survivetheraft is coming to Max and @discovery this July.” He has been promoting the show on his social media or in any other way he can. Again, just lately, close to the show’s premiere, he again invited people to join him in watching the premiere.
During the introduction, viewers were told that Elliot is as friendly as can be, and yet he has a cunning nature. He grew up playing team sports. But, at the same time, they described he is not afraid to play dirty to score a goal. With an engineer’s mind and an Apollo physicality, Elliot was explained to have the brains and brawn to make it to the end of the challenge. Also, they presented him as someone who can build and fix anything without an instruction manual.

Elliot Capella is openly a trans man.
Just on 1 April 2023, on the day of “transgender day of visibility”, Elliot elaborately wrote on a social media post about having been transgender his entire 31 years alive. Of those years, he has been out and visible for only four years at this point.
Similarly, on 13 November 2022, he gushed “Today is my four-year manniversary 🥳”. Four years ago from this day, he said he picked up his “Test” for the first time and gave “lil Elliot” his first shot. So, like that Elliot has been openly discussing his experience/journey with hormone replacement therapy, for a while now.

Here are a rare few things understood about Elliot’s family. His mom is Heather Capella On 24 September 2019, he was seen showing off her to his social media post. And next to it, he gushed “Happy birthday to this amazing lady, who made me from scratch.”

Young Elliot is described as a typical military brat. Because his family was always moving, it is believed he always had to find a way to fit in.
Elliot grew up with two siblings it seems. He often mentions them on social media. One of them is his brother who on IG goes by the name ‘Ahh Campella”. Mentioning him once on national siblings day, Elliot gushed “Apparently missed #nationalsiblingsday so here’s just a solid photo of @ahh_capella and yours truly.”
Another brother of Elliot is Eric Capella who as of now continued being married to Diana Capella (Houlihan). Together, these two also have a baby girl.
Elliot Capella Partner
Elliot Capella not just only has a partner, but he is actually married to her. The two got married on 13 April 2023. It’s Hannah Capella, AKA Hannah Lief (on IG @thnkingaboutrats) we speak of.
On 4 January 2022, after Elliot and Hannah got engaged, the latter had taken to Facebook to write “Got engaged to my partner Elliot Capella who doesn’t have a Facebook🥰”.
“Stay positive or die trying”, Hannah was seen writing on her IG BIO. While on her LinkedIn profile, she wrote, “Looking to make a difference creatively with a hard worth ethic.” Also, we learned that Hannah has been a dog walker at Wag Labs Inc. in Richmond, Virginia Area since Oct 2017.
Sometime later, Hannah organized a fundraiser for herself claiming that for a year almost her disability kept her mostly bed bound. She explained her current insurance not being able to cover a wheelchair that she desperately needed to be mobile. 17 people had donated and $2,242 USD was raised of the $2,000 goal.
Elliot Capella Height
Sturdily built Elliot Capella stands above 5’8” in height. He was an all-star athlete back in the day, but now he focuses just on bodybuilding.
Elliot was not always so big and strong. When about three months into his transition, he started training at Brentwood Barbell. At that time, he said, he was pretty small and feminine looking and was pretty intent on getting big and strong and looking as masculine “as possible as quickly as possible”. And so until January 2020, he had added thirty pounds to his frame and more than 285 pounds to his total. At this point, he thought he had made some serious progress and was “really pleased” with that.
Elliot Capella Job
Elliot Capella is a bodybuilder and powerlifter as said on the show. But, this is not his only way of bringing in the money. When not training he is working as a full stack developer. As one, he specializes in Cloud, DevOps, and Security by trade. Until back in 2020, he had been doing a lot of side projects while also continuing his education in that field.
Between 2010 and 2015, Elliot got his dual bachelor’s in Engineering Science and Mechanics, and Mathematics at Virginia TechVirginia Tech.
Per LinkedIn, Elliot has been working full-time as a senior consultant at Slalom, a global business and technology consulting company, since September 2018.
