Glyn White isn’t a man who belongs to the wilderness, but an adventurous soul who chose to be in it. After marrying Life Below Zero: First Alaskans star Mavin Angot’s niece, Glyn moved to the remote lands of Alaska from Los Angeles and learned survival skills from the star.

National Geographic‘s Life Below Zero franchise keeps on expanding, and in May 2022, we got Life Below Zero: First Alaskans. It featured five individuals all using different techniques and methods to thrive in the brutal environment of Alaska.
However, our star, Glyn White wasn’t one of the featured survival experts. Rather, he appeared on the show as a guy who married Mavin Angot’s niece and moved to Alaska.
Giving away his lust for otherworldly inventions, Glyn was prepared to go back all the way to the hunting grounds to feed his family. Under the guidance of Mavin who taught him the subsistence lifestyle (Marvin’s father taught him), Glyn was slowly learning how to harvest food.
The last we saw them, the duo building a greenhouse for the community of Akhiok.
But not all families on Life Below Zero: First Alaskans led a traditional life. Infact, the featured Alaska natives walked in two worlds — one of the traditional ways and one of the 21st-century challenges. Jody Potts-Joseph and his family lived on land by the Yukon River, Marvin Agnot’s waited for tides to survive, Joel Jacko’s family lived a life of self-reliance, Steven Strassburg taught his seven children ancient methods of survival, and Daniel Apassingok’s family relied on the Bering Sea to survive.
This season indeed was an interesting one. And for those of you worried that the season is ending, the second season of Life Below Zero: First Alaskans is on its way.
“With this second season of Life Below Zero: First Alaskans, we are honored to have been allowed to capture more of the daily lives, cultures, customs, and traditions of our Alaska Native cast members,” noted Alan Eyres, senior V.P of production of National Geographic.
Glyn White Spouse
Glyn White was married to Marcella Amodo-White on July 12, 2007. His spouse is an Akhiok, Alaska, native who’s always found happiness in trivial things. No wonder, rather than moving with Glyn to Los Angeles, the pair chose to reside in Alaska.
But living in Alaska didn’t mean they compromised for happiness. From anniversaries to birthday celebrations, Marcella always cooked amazing meals and shared a lovely dinner with the family.
Talking about birthdays, Marcella celebrates hers on December 19.
“To the love of my life and very best friend. I want to say happy birthday. I hope I can make your birthday as special as you are to me. Love you,” Glyn wrote to his wife on her birthday in 2022.
As for their kids, the lovebirds share five — Jazmine, Juliana, Joseph, Jarius, and John Malachai Amodo.
Their youngest, John, stepped into this world at 11:53 a.m. on June 25, 2020.
Trivia: Glyn often missed his wife and kids whenever he was stuck in town due to the weather.

Together, they worked on the development of Piped Water, Piped Sewer, Electric, Refuse Collection, Landfills, Health Clinic, Dock, Fuel Sales, Library, Airport, and Post Office.
As for his education, Glyn attended Beaufort High from 1998 to 2001 and graduated from Los Amigos High in 2002. Later, he went on to study “Speech and Business” at Golden West Community College.
In September 2018, Glyn then receives his “Water Distribution Provisional” certificate. His certificate labeled 23615 was dated to expire on December 31, 2022.
