So, a new series is here for Bachelor Nation fans. For the first time, a 70-something is looking to fall in love on a national television reality show. It is Gerry Turner we speak of. He is the leading man for The Golden Bachelor, the newest addition to the Bachelor franchise. Unlike The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise which concentrates on men and women in their 20s and 30s, Golden Bachelor, premiering on ABC this fall, follows Gerry as he meets women looking for love in the later stage of life.
And now, because the identities of those vying for Gerry’s heart have yet to be revealed, let’s instead talk about the leading man’s late wife Toni Turner.
Meet Toni Turner, Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner’s Late Wife
Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner was previously married to his high school sweetheart Toni Turner who passed away in 2017.
They say the two were united in marriage on 13 February 1972. So, they were likely together for 45 years until one of them passed away.
Just on 17 July 2023, he reflected on what he thinks Toni would make of his Bachelor’s endeavor. “She’s up there rooting, she’s saying, ‘Yeah Gerry, do this.”, he said speaking of his late wife. Also, he talked about having her picture on a dresser in her closet. He said every morning he gives her the nod, “So what do you think about this?”. He said for a while he was having a hard time figuring out if she would be okay. But because they always told each other ‘when one of us goes we want the other to be happy”, he knew what he had to do.
Toni is remembered as someone who would light up any room with her infectious laugh and her huge smile. She enjoyed expressing herself creatively, whether it was crafts or floral arrangements and she loved to share that with people. Also, she was an amazing cook and had so many favorite dishes.
To know Toni was a beautiful thing, they say. She always wanted everyone to be treated with kindness, volunteered whenever possible, and savored time with family.
Gerry And Toni Turner Kids
Yes. With Toni, Gerry Turner also has kids. There are two adult daughters and they were actually the ones who prompted Gerry’s journey to finding love again. They were the ones who signed him up. After much thinking, Gerry felt like there was “nothing to lose” and so he said yes to finding a partner for the second time.
With Toni, Gerry shares two daughters, Angela “Angie” Turner of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Jennifer “Jenny” (Jon) Young of Lansing, Michigan, and later two granddaughters, Charlee and Payton Young.
Jennifer turned 49 in May 2023 and Jennifer 41 in December 2022.
