Shane Duffy On HGTV Build It Forward
HGTV has once again teamed up with Lowe’s, and together, they are here with the second season of Build It Forward. As before, the series celebrates Lowe’s generous initiative to give back to deserving organizations and individuals in communities all across the country. But this time, Shane Duffy is replacing Matt Blashaw, and he will be teaming up with the inaugural host, Taniya Nayak.
Together, Shane and Taniya will be surprising five outstanding community members with the home renovations of a lifetime.
As per HGVT, over just a few short months, the co-hosts will crisscross the country to lend a hand and “build it forward” with both home renovations and a special project that takes place at each non-profit as well.
Build It Forward is Shane’s first gig on TV, and he’s happy that Taniya took him “under her wing.” Almost all the renovations he did with her, Shane said that the final episode was the most challenging because they had to lift the house off the ground about 7 feet, out of a flood plain to save the house.
“So it wasn’t just doing a renovation to change the person’s life; it was literally to save the house in order for it to be compliant with the flood plain. he added. “It’s not every day you get to do that.”
Did you know: Shane was once in the army.
How Much Is HGTV Shane Duffy Net Worth?
By 2023, HGTV Shane Duffy garnered a net worth of above $600 thousand.
This home improvement expert did “carpentry, side summer jobs painting and landscaping, building decks, terraces with stone and wood trellises,” when he was in high school. Over time, his knowledge of the back end of carpentry and outdoor work then translated into his handyman company, and from there it evolved into a full-scale renovation company.
But his journey wasn’t as easy as we’ve summarized. In fact, Shane’s first renovation of the house he bought was a disaster. It went over budget, he had to use cheap materials, and he stained all the carpet. “Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong,” he said.
Now, Shane’s been in the renovation industry for over 15 years. He co-owns SD Squared, a full-scale renovation and design company based in New York City. The last we checked, the latest projects were Park Ave Condo, Madison Ave Condo, Carvi Hotel, Ipanema Restaurant, Gramercy Park Condo, and Park Slope Condo.
The HGTV star shared that his renovation specialty was maximizing space.” Living in New York City, every apartment is a tiny house, so maximizing space, using horizontal and vertical space, being creative with lighting and use of windows, is super important,” he explained.
Fun Fact: Shane conceptualized and built a hidden homeless home in the middle of NYC that became one man’s home for almost 1 year. The home garnered international press and had over 1 million views on the internet.
