Ivan Shaw, who is now starring in the popular NBC show, actually did not want to become an actor while he was young. In fact, Ivan did not take any interest in acting until college.
While Ivan was attending UCLA, he felt a love for acting for the first time. Upon realizing that acting was his passion, Ivan told his dad that he wanted to drop out of college, which he obviously rejected.

Following the series, Ivan began writing and directing short movies, music videos, and commercials while appearing in TV shows like On The Verge, Casual, New Girl, Insecure, Better Things, Silicon Valley, Rizzoli & Isles, NCIS, CSI, Monk, and The Closer.
