Who Are Kelton Balka Parents?
Kelton Balka resident of Knoxville, Tennessee is the son of Michael Balka and the late Kristy Balka. Being born on 4 July 1995, he is now 28. He was the couple’s first child, and they went on to have four more children after him. His family moved to Tennessee from South Carolina.
Kelton has stated on his LinkedIn that he is a president at Tennessee Standard LLC since January 2020. Before that, he worked as Director Of Business Development for The Plumbing Authority.
Kelton is married to his wife Josie Balka. They met in the summer of 2014, during a piano recital at which both Josie and Kelton’s sister were performing. But it wasn’t until the summer of 2015 that they had their first extended conversation and exchanged phone numbers. As was shared on the episode of Bringing Up Bates, Josie then put the relationship on hold after her parents expressed that they believed she was too young.
Kelton said, “I was crushed. I had never met a girl like Josie, and I couldn’t understand what God was doing or why Josie had ended what was just beginning.”
They entered courtship in January 2018 and got engaged on 19 June of the same year. They have been happily married since 5 October 2018. The wedding was officiated by Josie’s father Gil Bates.
Then, Kelton and Josie revealed on February 13th, 2019, that they were expecting their first child, due in July. They announced that the child would be a girl on March 28, 2019, and that she would be called Willow Kristy Balka. In Knoxville, Tennessee, Willow Kristy Balka was born at 2:23 in the morning on July 19, 2019.
Willow was 19 inches long and 6 pounds, 10 ounces in weight. The Bringing Up Bates episode “A First Time For Everything” had a segment about her birth.
On September 9, 2020, Josie made known that she and Kelton were expecting their second child, who would have been due in March 2021. On August 25, 2020, they learned that they had lost the baby at their most recent ultrasound.
Furthermore, Kelton and Josie made the announcement that they were expecting their second child, due in June 2021, on January 5, 2021. They announced that the child will be a girl on February 18, 2021, and that she would be called Hazel Sloane Balka. On June 14, 2021, Hazel Sloane Balka was born at Powell, Tennessee’s Tennova North Birthing Center. She was 18 inches long and 6 pounds, 3 ounces in weight.
Hazel was admitted to the NICU at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital shortly after giving birth because of a blood problem where Josie and Hazel’s blood were in conflict. The NICU discharged her on June 21, 2021.
Moreover, Kelton and Josie revealed on August 14, 2023, that they were expecting their third child, who would be born in early March 2024.
Meet Michael Balka, Kelton Balka Dad
Michael Balka is the father of Kelton Balka. Michael’s Facebook states that he is working as a Programmer/Consultant at System Solutions that he owns. He was formerly a Financial Systems Manager at Amnex in 1999.
Furthermore, Michael also worked for Greater Auction Group as Financial Systems Manager from 1993 and 1996. He had previously served as Corporate Financial Analyst at Electronic Data Systems (EDS) from 1991 to 1993.
Michael graduated from Lake Highlands High School and Baylor University.
Born in December 1966, Michael is age 56. He was the son of the late Herman Balka and Willie Mae Balka. Herman served in the marines in battle for three years in World War II. He was a great Christian leader and soul winner for Christ. His parents were married for 62 years until his father’s death.
Michael’s mother died on 7 May 2011 at the age of 84.

Meet Kristy Balka, Kelton Balka Mom
Kristy Balka is the late mother of Kelton Balka. Per her obituary, Kristy was a graduate of Pensacola Christian College. Moreover, she was a home-schooling mother and a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Kristy was born to Jerry K. Dotson, Jr. and Norma G. Dotson of Travelers Rest on 2 March 1970 in Hendersonville, North Carolina. When she passed away on 14 April 2009, she was survived by her sister, Kim Davies; a brother, Bryan Dotson; paternal grandmother, Inez Dotson; and maternal grandmother, Beatrice Caudle.
Kristy died of a postpartum hemorrhage at the age of 39.
