Aaron Darnell was just your everyday dad until his daughter Kylan went viral on TikTok during the University of Alabama’s 2022 sorority recruitment. Plus, his name echoed even more after Kylan won the title of “Fan Favorite” in the Miss Teen USA pageant on October 1 later that year — while also placing 16th overall.
Talking about how much of a “surreal” experience this has been, Kylan shared, “I’m in a phantom mode right now. Those were words that I never thought I would hear. It was just instant joy; all of the work I’ve put in over the last three years was instantly worth it.”
Also, she added that winning Miss Ohio Teen in May and running for Miss Teen USA was “crazy.”
“I was chatting with the other girls backstage, and I was not nervous at all. I thought, ‘It’s either going to happen, or it’s not going to happen. If it doesn’t happen, I will move on with my life and everything will be okay,’” she recalled.
But this wasn’t the first time she competed in Miss Ohio Teen USA. Prior to 2022, she participated in the beauty pageant three times but never advanced further than the semi-finals.
Now, Kylan flaunted over 142K followers on her Instagram @kylan_darnell. She uses the platform to spread kindness, which is much needed in our culture right now.
Also, she is the founder of a non-profit, Girl Power, an organization to help empower young girls. As its president, she focuses on the importance of uplifting females — providing tips to improve confidence, maintain a positive body image, and improve self-esteem.
And not to mention, Kylan’s open to modeling. This 5 feet 7 inches (170 cm) beauty has already modeled for Henri’s Cloud Nine, a prom and pageant clothing brand.
