Maria Shrime Gonzalez is not only a contestant on Survivor S46 but also a promising player who is very smart to outsmart the others. She applied to Survivor in her late 20s but she didn’t get any response at the time.
Then, she moved on and continued with her education and went on to have a family. During the time of pandemic, she started watching the show again and thought, “this is my time.”
Choosing her winner and non-winner, Maria shared, “Okay, they are both strong-ass women. So, Natalie Anderson is an amazing person for me to emulate. And Stephenie LaGrossa, who never quite won. There are so many times in my life where I’ve been sort of alone and had to dig deep for inner strength. And so really sort of admire them and admire how they played the game as just strong badass women.”
Maria believes that her “Individuality, and determination” are her two superpowers in life. However, she lacks control.
She explained, “Which is also part of why I’m applying. Because the times in my life where I haven’t had control have been the times where I’ve grown the most as a person. And so putting myself out there again in a situation where I will not have control, that’s another opportunity for me to see what I made of.”

Maria Shrime Gonzalez is happily married to her husband Lorenzo Gonzalez. The couple exchanged their wedding vows in October 2011.

Talking about her husband, Lorenzo is the owner of Zen Orthopedics. Maria and Lorenzo share three boys. Speaking to Parade, she shared, ” I birthed all three kids at home without any medication. So, natural childbirth, I’ve run three marathons. I even nursed one of my kids right after I crossed the finish line of the marathon.”
“I’m not even joking. My husband ran the baby to me, and I lifted up my sweaty sports bra, and I nursed him after a marathon. So being alone and being sort of forced to dig deep, not a problem,” she concluded.

Maria Shrime Gonzalez is a Doctor Of Physical Therapy turned Parent Coach. She stepped away from physical therapy to become a mom and pursue momhood.
“But then I wanted something else. So I actually sought out this occupational therapist who had all kinds of tools and tricks to really get to know who you are, and how to understand your emotions, and how to understand your nervous system, what makes you tick, what sets you off, how to calm yourself when you are set off, and how to build deeper bonds with your kids,” she added. “Because you’re learning that about the kids too, and about your partner and workers and all that stuff. And so the goal was to learn it for myself first, to help me sort of engage and be better connected to the kids and to my husband. But then I just was so in love with it, and she brought me on as one of our coaches.
