Scott Graham married the actress Morven Christie back in Feb 2012. But sadly, just after 3 years of marriage, the then-husband-wife decided they would be better apart and divorced in 2015.

Talking about the split, Morven shared that their relationship wasn’t making them happy. Eventually, they decided to part ways while remaining friends. In her words, “We’re really good friends, but the marriage didn’t work out and we had to face up to that. It was no one’s fault, it just wasn’t making us happy.”

As for their kids, the duo shares none. Even though Scott was optimistic about having children, it was Morven who was “scared” of the idea of having them. “I’m not really thinking about having kids at the moment but it scares me quite a bit. The idea that I’d take a year out – how would that work? How would I get back?” she explained.

Furthermore, Morven even shed light on the news like — Claire Foy filming The Crown (playing Queen Elizabeth II) for which she has just won a Golden Globe when her baby was four months old — hinting “how willing women are to jump on each other with judgments.” 

“I wish that women were more supportive of each other and of our differing choices. I think that would help,” Morven lamented.

After the divorce, Morven then stayed single for almost 3 years. “I’ve got to a point where I feel properly whole by myself. And that’s a good place. I wouldn’t rule out meeting someone in the future, but my happiness would not depend on it.” she said at the time. 

Luckily, she met that certain “someone” — musician Iain Cook — in December 2017.

Then, the actress left north London and moved in with him in Glasgow.

After the divorce, though Morven went on to publicly date Iain, her ex-husband Scott Graham went low-key with his relationships. However, reports had that he was spotted with a few lovely ladies later. Sadly, their names weren’t revealed.

Scott Graham is a director and writer. He started his career during the winter of 2005 directing his first short film Born to Run, set in a fishing port in the North East.

In 2007, Scott then released his second short, Shell, which even went on to win the UK Film Council Award for Best Film at the London Short Film Festival the next year.

Following his success, Scott then wrote/directed Native Son, produced by Film Four under their Cinema Extreme banner and it premiered in competition at Cannes 2010.

Thanks to this, the writer was chosen as one of the UK Stars of Tomorrow in 2011.

In 2012, Scott then embarked on his journey to write feature films.

His first, Shell (based on his 2008 short) came out in 2012. It was all about a teenage girl’s life with her father in a remote highland petrol station. The movie later won the Best Film award at Torino Film Festival.

Second, Scott wrote Iona, starring Ruth Negga. The movie was set on the remote Scottish island of Iona.

And his last, Run came out in 2019. The movie starring Mark Stanley was distributed by Verve in 2020.

So, what inspired Scott to turn into the film industry? Well, he grew up watching films. The nearest cinema was an hour’s drive and he could only go there on special occasions to see blockbusters. However, at the time, BBC2 already had programs like Moviedrome where the film was introduced. This helped Scott me to see film-making as a craft. “I saw a lot of 70’s and 80’s cinema this way,” he added.

His favorite British films are Bill Douglas’ My Childhood, Duane Hopkins’ Love Me Or Leave Me Alone, and Paul Wright’s Believe.

However, the first film he ever saw was Star Wars.

The director’s one advice to his younger self would be to have faith in his scripts once we were in production. “There’s always going to be pressure on you to make compromises but some things should never be let go of. That said, it’s important to accept your mistakes. There’s often no other way of learning what’s important to you,” he explained.

Trivia: Scott was nominated for a BAFTA for Outstanding Debut in 2014. She studied acting at the Drama Centre London, under Reuven Adiv, an associate of Lee Strasberg.
