John Dee Valentine was a lawyer by profession. In fact, he was regarded by many as one of the finest estate planning lawyers in the state of Missouri. He was a partner in the firm of Lewis, Rice, and Fingersh, L.L.C. He served his clients with integrity and distinction for nearly 25 years.

During his short career, John received several honors. The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel inducted him as a fellow. The annual publication “Best Lawyers in America” also recognized him for his work. He devoted himself to writing, lecturing, and teaching in his field for such groups as the Metropolitan Bar Association of St. Louis, Missouri Bar, St. Louis University as well as other institutions.

Moreover, John devoted countless hours to various civic, educational, and charitable pursuits. He served on the Board of Directors of the Churchill School, Fontbonne College, St. Louis Children’s Hospital, The Magic House, Lay Advisory Committee of St. Mary’s Hospital, St. Louis University Bequest and Gift Council, the National Multiple Sclerosis Gateway Chapter, and the Campbell House Museum as well as the Ladue Zoning and Planning Commission.

John Dee Valentine Parents And Siblings

John Dee Valentine’s parents were Stephen Peter Valentine III and Olga Van Wagoner Valentine. His parents were married in the fall of 1948, according to The Brooklyn Daily Eagle. They later divorced and his father married Christine S. J. Valentine and stayed married for 36 years until his death.

Stephen (1-Jan-1926 to 1-July-2010) was a former president of Wilton and New Canaan, Conn. He graduated from  Princeton School of Engineering with degrees in both chemical and mechanical engineering. He worked for Socony Mobil for 20 years where his Master’s Thesis was adapted for use in the catalytic cracking process of crude oil.

Furthermore, Stephen also worked for H.J Baker Co. He traveled all over the world with both companies. He later taught mathematics and science at Chief Dull Knife College in Lame Deer, Mont., until he retired.

Stephen’s parents were Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Valentine Jr. His great-grandfather David A. Boody was a mayor of Brooklyn in 1892 and 1893 before its incorporation into the City of New York.

As for John’s mother, Olga graduated from Brooklyn Friends School in 1945 and later attended Connecticut College for Women, New London. She was a member of the Heights Casino and a provisional member of the Junior League of Brooklyn.

John had four siblings — Stephen Valentine IV (wife Alice), Cary Randolph Valentine, Samuel Titus Valentine (wife Annie), and Sarah Hull Valentine Jackowitz (husband Jerome).
