Meet Michael Gacy, John Wayne Gacy Son
The name Michael Gacy first came into the limelight as his father John Wayne Gacy went on to become the subject of Netflix’s limited series Conversations with a Killer: The John Wayne Gacy Tapes in 2022. However, Michael and his mother long cut their ties with John long before he was convinced of murdering up to 30 people in 1978.
To be precise, it was 1968 when Michael’s mother divorced John and took Michael away from their father.
But with this being said, the first warning sign about John did appear in 1964 while Michael was still with his father. At the time, John was arrested and sentenced to 18 months in prison for sodomizing two young boys.

Michael’s mother is Marlynn Myers. She first met Michael’s dad John in 1963 and went on to marry him 9 months later in 1964. Two years later, the duo welcome Michael into this world and a year later, Michael’s sister Christine Gacy stepped into this world.
According to the serial killer, those years with his first wife and kids were “perfect.” And that did seem to be true if you minus John’s secret act of homosexuality. Even Marlynn claimed that John was a good father, and he never was violent with her or the children.
Likewise, John’s sister Karen recalled that John had a sense in the late 1960s that he’d finally been accepted by their abusive and domineering father. For those who don’t know, John felt like he never lived up to his dad’s expectations until he married and had a son and daughter of his own.
Marlynn and John then went on to get divorced in 1968 after the serial killer was sentenced to 18 months in prison for sodomizing two young boys.
After John got out, he moved to Chicago for a fresh start, married Carole Hoff in 1972, and volunteered as the Democratic Precinct Captain in his area. Also, he frequently dressed up as his alter ego, Pogo the Clown, at parties that he hosted for his entire neighborhood. This was how he got his ominous nickname, the “Killer Clown”.
John finally was arrested for his heinous act in 1977 and was convicted of killing 33 boys and men from the years 1972 to 1978.
He was finally executed by lethal injection on May 10, 1994.
His last meal was a bucket of KFC, a dozen fried shrimp, French fries, fresh strawberries, and a Diet Coke. While his last words were, “Kiss my ass.”

Trivia: Michael’s grandparents are Marion Elaine and John Stanley Gacy. Reportedly, Michael’s grandfather “physically and verbally” abused John in the basement of his own home as he was growing up. So, he tried to reproduce that behavior with his victims. Thus, he put all the dead bodies he put in the basement — synonymous with himself being buried by his father.
