One of the 10 competitors in the fourth season of Great Chocolate Showdown is Mike C (Chicago, Illinois), also known as Mike Casner. On August 5, 2023, a brand-new season of Great Chocolate Showdown debuted. In the season of the CW show, 10 ambitious bakers create exceptional desserts with chocolate as their primary component in a competition for a $50,000 grand prize.
After each episode, a contestant is eliminated, until a final episode to determine the season winner. Episodes typically consist of two challenges: an initial “Technique Test” and a “Chocolate Elimination Challenge”. Winners of the skills challenge receive either immunity from elimination or an advantage in the elimination round.
Let the Games Begin is the title of the fourth season premiere of Great Chocolate Showdown. The ten competitors will make a chocolate Tic-Tac-Toe board before entering the kitchen. Those who finish last in the tournament will attempt to advance by “delivering a cake diorama.”

Mike Casner Family
Mike Casner is the son of Ron and Sandy Wrona Casner. His mother hailed from Rockville, Connecticut meanwhile his dad called Southington, Connecticut his hometown.
Sandy attended Southern Connecticut State University. Born in 1955, she is 68 years of age.
Sadly, Mike lost his father Ron back in September 2020. Ron was born in Southington, CT to the late James and Pauline (Bassola) Casner on December 26, 1954. He spent his entire childhood in Southington where he was a standout on the baseball field as a hard-throwing pitcher. He went on to play for the University of Connecticut at Waterbury before transferring to UConn’s main campus in Storrs where he graduated in 1976.
Ron and Sandy married in 1978. On their 38th anniversary in 2016, Ron wished his wife, “Happy 38th anniversary Sandy Wrona Casner. You captured my heart from the first time you said hello to me at your college dorm. It’s been 38 great years of wonder, blessings, challenges, and happiness sharing my life with you. You are the perfect wife, mother, grandmother (Mima), and great friend. Let’s go for another 38 years together over and over again. I will always love you until my last day. Love, Ronnie.”
Ron’s career in commercial insurance allowed his family to experience much of the country, living in Connecticut, Michigan, Indiana, Louisiana, California, Maryland, and Massachusetts. He retired in May as Chief Underwriting Officer at Arrowhead General Insurance Agency after a successful 44-year career.
Ron was only 65 when he passed away. He was survived by his other two children Amy Bojarczuk and her husband Raphael of Tomball, TX, and Christopher James Casner of Baltimore, MD. Amy is currently 43 years old whereas Chris is 40.
Mike Casner Job
Mike Casner is working as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at UMKC. He received his undergraduate education at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and he earned his master’s in exercise physiology at the University of Texas. After that, he went to Vanderbilt University’s medical school, where he was the class and student body president.
In his final year of residency, Mike served as Chief Resident at UCLA Olive View. He became interested in academics and medical management during his chief year, and after graduation, he decided to pursue the latter by completing a management Fellowship with Vituity. Since then, he has worked in Chicago and Kansas City’s local emergency rooms.
Mike, who was initially a part-time faculty member, came to the conclusion that he enjoyed working in an academic setting where he could collaborate with and instruct residents and medical students. He began working as a full-time member of the UMKC/Truman faculty in January 2021, and he is now the assistant director of the emergency medicine clerkship.
Casner is taking his time to find his specialty because he has a variety of interests in emergency medicine. He has been featured on the EM:RAP podcast, the most popular audio program in emergency medicine with more than 20,000 international listeners each month, and he has a particular interest in novel modalities of medical education.

Is Mike Casner Married?
Mike Casner was once married to his late husband Patrick Tobin. They were engaged already in 2020 and got married not long after that. Sadly, on 10 October 2021, Patrick passed away after living with metastatic melanoma, a form of aggressive skin cancer, for three years. He was only 32 years old at the time.
Patrick was an animal lover. He loved cats and after meeting Mike he started loving dogs. They were the proud fathers of two rescue cats, Perry and Hamilton, as well as a Labrador Retriever named Stanley.
To commemorate Patrick and his love of animals, Way Side Waifs raised $100,000, for a no-kill animal shelter in Kansas City that houses 6000 homeless animals every year. With that money, Wayside planned to perform several upgrades to the shelter. In particular, most of the funds will go to much-needed renovations to their cat sunroom.
Now, in 2023, his relationship status is unclear. But, Mike appears very close to one Hidde Stuur. However, it is unclear if they are just good friends or are currently seeing each other.
Talking about Hidde, he hailed from Amsterdam, Netherlands. He works as a Clearing Systems Analyst at ABN AMRO Clearing Chicago and attended VU University Amsterdam.
