Netflix’s 2022 true-crime series The Tinder Swindler followed the stories of multiple women who were were conned out of hundreds of thousands of dollars by a prolific playboy scammer named Shimon Hayut.
But before we move on to his “deeds,” let’s get to know this conman a little more. Shimon is an Israeli resident who befriended multiple ladies posing as Lev Leviev’s son, Simon Leviev. Moreover, to make his lies seem more believable, Hayut even went as far as to legally change his name and hire staff such as assistants and a bodyguard.
The guy especially targeted women from Europe (Norway, Finland, and Denmark) on Tinder, and tricked them into handing him over huge sums of money under pretenses.
Fortunately, Shimon was caught and imprisoned in December 2019 in Israel and sentenced to 15 months in jail. But he only served five months of his sentence.
Now that Shimon’s background’s been established, know that Pernilla was only one of the three ladies he’d scammed. The other two (Cecilie Fjellhøy and Ayleen Charlotte) also starred in The Tinder Swindler.
All of them shared their “whole heart” with him.
But when all’s said and done, though it might seem like Pernilla lost a lot, she also had a lot to gain from this experience including wisdom and friends. Yes, friends!

Pernilla Sjoholm first came across Shimon Hayut on Tinder in March 2018, and immediately, she was attracted to the fact that the guy was a hard worker and an avid traveler, just like her.
Also, at the time, Pernilla had just parted ways with her fiance of eight years. Guess, she was vulnerable.
The two then went on their first date to Amsterdam, Netherlands, and ended up deciding that they’d be better off as friends that day.
However, the pair kept in touch even as the months passed by, with them often meeting up at Pernilla’s base in Stockholm, along with vacationing in Mykonos and Rome as well. The supposedly “millionaire” making his precious time for that lady, made Pernilla fall even more for him. No wonder, she didn’t hesitate to send him $30 thousand when he asked for him.
On top of that, she even ended up paying for several of Shimon and his team flights so that they could go about their business as usual.
And one day, a Verdens Gang journalist, contacted her to reveal the truth. She then immediately teamed with VG to capture footage and audio of him and worked their way to deliver justice.
