Sheriff Reginald B Scandrett Wife

Sheriff Reginald B Scandrett is married to his childhood sweetheart Deidree Bradley. They tied the knots on 8 June 1991. So, in 2022, they have been married for 31 years. On their 31st anniversary, Deidree wished her husband, “31 years and counting. Happy Anniversary husband. Let’s see what the next half of life brings”.

The married couple met each other more than 40 years ago while in school.

Music had propelled Reginald forward. When he started at Fredrick Douglass High School its band was regarded as one of the best in the state. No 8th graders had ever been invited to join the group until Reginald arrived. Even though he played the relatively lightweight cymbals, he caught the eye of a flute-playing young woman named Deidree, who was destined to become his wife.

“Seeing him inspired me,” Deidree said of her first impression of her husband.

Exaggerations were used to begin their relationship. Reginald claimed to be a year older than he actually was. On band bus trips, though, they started chatting. Deidree recalled one such excursion where she had worn some worn-out sweatpants, pink curlers in her hair, and Noxzema all over her face.

His interest in her was not diminished by the way she looked. They remained only close friends for two years after the first meeting. They had just gotten off a bus when Reginald said, “What we doin’?” while they waited for their vehicles.

When Reginald was elected sheriff of Henry County, after a full career at DeKalb County before he retired in June 2019, his wife helped run the whole campaign successfully.

“We ran like we were running for governor,” Reginald said. “My wife ran the whole campaign. She has a degree from Clark in mass communications. She has a gift for bringing people together for success. She’s outstanding. I can’t thank her enough.”

Deidree works as the human relations director for public works for DeKalb County. Her Facebook states that she is a Payroll Supervisor at DeKalb County Government. Following high school graduation, she and her husband both enrolled at Clark Atlanta University where she earned her B.A. in Broadcast Management.

“I followed her there and then needed to pay some bills,” Sheriff said.

In addition, the couple shared four children; Christian Scandrett, 30, holds a master’s in business administration and is working on a master’s in hospitality management at Georgia State University. Regine Scandrett, 28, graduated from Clayton State University with a degree in psychology. Johnathon, 25, graduated from Florida International University where he played football and obtained dual degrees in sports management and English. Deidrick Scandrett, 20, graduated senior from Stockbridge High School.

They are also grandparents to one granddaughter.
