Taylor Fagins On American Idol
Taylor Fagins is one of the contestants the season 20 of ABC’s American Idol in 2022. He came to the show with his original song “We Need More”. The song was about the deaths of Black people like Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor.
Taylor’s performance moved all three judges and gave him the golden ticket to Hollywood. He wrote the song in the middle of 2020 during pandemic three days after George Floyd passed away. Taylor felt the need to say something about the unfortunate event and as a singer/songwriter he used his artistic talent as a medium to express how he felt.
Taylor hasn’t made money out of his craft because he writes for himself.
In late February 2022, Taylor had announced his appearance on American Idol via IG post. He captioned, “I’ll be going live tomorrow to talk about The 20th season premiere of @americanidol, my life, and other crazy things in the world. See ya there!”. After the premiere of his performance, he posted a short video of his journey to LA.

Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Johnique was living in State College, Pennsylvania. She attended Booker T. Washington High School. After graduation, she enrolled at Texas State University followed by Penn State University. She worked as a graduate research assistant at Penn State.

Then he got into writing songs after his aunt gave him a journal in middle school. It was the beginning of his journey as a writer. During his senior year in high school, his family went through a tough time which made him grow up fast. That’s when he started writing music and plays, December 2012.
Taylor started producing music after coming to New York in 2018. His friend Paul Chang who was the producer of his song “We Need More” taught him the ropes of producing music. He also started his acting career at UCI and moved to the professional stage with roles at the Chance Theatre in CA, Theatre Row in NY, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
