The year 2022 seems to be even more of a fruitful year for reality TV show fans as many new shows are kicking off on TV. Even our Gordan Ramsey came up with a brand new cooking competition called Next Level Chef. Aiming to be the next evolution of cooking competitions, the new series launched on 2 January 2022 with the country’s very best line cooks, home chefs, social media stars, food truck owners, and everything in between. (Of course) Tricia Wang, whom we are about to discuss in the rest of the writing, is among them.

Finally on 24 November 2021, Tricia Wang was allowed to officially announce that she is one of the contestants in a show that will basically remind you more or less Top Chef with the competition factor of Battle Of The Brothers, mixed with the 2019 Spanish-language, Netflix horror movie The Platform (minus the barfing and cannibalism), as decider.com puts it.
So, Tricia is introduced to this latest cooking competition series as a social media chef and the only pro Twitch chef on the season. “Cooking with Gordon Ramsay (her hero) has been a dream of mine since I started this journey a few years ago! Excited to represent Twitch streamers who love food! This is so crazy”, Tricia wrote on her Instagram post during the big announcement.

In 2015, Tricia Wang finished studying Accounting, Finance, and Economics at Claremont McKenna College and started working as an investment manager at Morgan Stanley in February 2016. But she left there in March 2018 wanting to pursue a culinary career. So, in April the same year, she moved to Japan to study French and Japanese cuisine at Le Cordon Bleu, for a year.
“I didn’t know if I would be excitedly happy doing that,” she said of her career in finance and added “I truly believe that if we’re working 70 percent of our lives you should be doing something you truly are passionate about”, validating the trade in the financial world for the kitchen.
Now, as a chef, Tricia has worked at places like Wolfgang Steakhouse before COVID-19 hit. But luckily, even during those tough times, found a new kind of fame on Twitch. And surprisingly, it was actually these Twitch fans who made her dream come true with Gordon Ramsay.
A few of her followers had sent her the link where Chef Ramsay was recruiting for the show. She ended up applying and got in.

Tricia Wang’s family is back home in China. She revealed this in a tweet when wishing her mom on her 57th birthday in November 2020. The tweet read: “Mom, I miss you so much. I wish covid was gone so I could fly to China to go see her. I hope I ate half as gracefully as you, I LOVE YOU 妈妈. I’m forever a momma’s girl.”
Then, for her dad’s 63rd birthday in February 2021, she said “Poppa. I aspire to be as cool as you someday.”
Meanwhile, for siblings, she just has one big brother (of whom she never talks “sh*t” about) and seemed to be really close to him.
