Cooking for Devonnie Black has been a part of her life from a very young age. She grew up with her dad who she consider to be the greatest chef; not only because of his talent but because of the way his food brought people together.

Aiming to be the next evolution of cooking competitions, Next Level Chef launched on 2 January 2022 with the country’s very best line cooks, home chefs, social media stars, food truck owners, and everything in between.
As just as Seattle Times puts it, Devonnie Black, who is one of the contestants, brings home cooking to Next Level Chef knowing that being a part of this newest Fox series only solidified her take on the reality TV mainstay.
Devonnie and the others (including Tricia Wang and Gary Marandola are vying for a $250,000 grand prize. And in the process, they land on one of three teams led by mentors/judges Gordon Ramsay, Nyesha Arrington, and Richard Blais.
You will see, in each episode, the teams work on one of three levels of a massive set outside Las Vegas.
Now, Devonnie can not wait to collect reviews from all who watch her living her dream out loud. “2021 was a CRAZY year but it’s also the year that I started living my dreams out loud. I can’t wait for y’all to see this show. Every single one of us put our all into this. Don’t miss it”, she wrote on her Instagram a few days before the series’ release.
Before her TV debut, Devonnie tried getting jobs in restaurant kitchens. But with no experience beyond waiting tables and bartending, she failed miserably in getting her foot in the door.
Luckily, having done the show, she is hoping that people will be like, “OK, let’s give her a shot”. “I want to be in this industry so I’m hoping once the show airs, people see this is a passion of mine.”
And when she talked all these to Seattle Times a couple of days ago before the extinction of the year 2021, Devonnie was working as a private chef-for-hire, booking gigs through her website: devonniesbites.com.
She also proudly introduced herself as the owner of seemingly online-based foodservice Devonnie’s Bites and the author of the book Devonnie’s Bite.

Who Is Devonnie Black Husband?
Devonnie Black does not quite seem to have been married as of January 2022. However, she does have a partner and they seemed seriously invested in spending life together. And the last time we saw them together in March 2020 in a “How We Met” storytime video on YouTube the man next to Devonnie introduced himself as her boyfriend only.
Be that as it may, Devonnie did wish him on National Spouse Day on 27 January 2021, with a “Happy #NationalSpousesDay to my other half. I love you”.
Anyway, the man in Devonnie’s life is called Dougie Doug and they have a kid together.
Their son Dion was born on 25 May 2020.
Devonnie Black Job And Career
Devonnie Black says being Jamaican-born, New York-bred has afforded her exposure to insane flavors and techniques; and that attending a Culinary Arts High School (in Manhattan) granted her an education into what it meant to cook in a commercial kitchen for large groups of people.
It was also her part-German grandmother who influenced her cooking style.
However, after high school, Devonnie went on to study Theater at the State University of New York at Purchase. And after college, she moved to Los Angeles in 2013. She, then, relocated to Seattle in 2016, working for several years at the Genius Bar at the Apple store at Westfield Southcenter Mall. In 2019, she joined Seattle Rep in patron services but was sent home during the very first COVID pandemic.
Then in June 2021, Devonnie saw an application link for Next Level Chef on one of Gordan Ramsay’s social media channels and applied and within a month she was selected for the series, which was filmed in September.
