This Wayne Smozanek Bio covers it all.

Wayne Smozanek Cause Of Death

No-prep drag racer Wayne Smozanek died at the age of 60. The cause of his death was related to the COVID-19 which he had been fighting since early December.

According to his wife Wendy, he had been in intensive care for seven weeks. Wendy had reported the signs of improvement in the days leading up to his passing.

In January 2022, after Wayne was admitted to the hospital, his wife Wendy shared on her Facebook, “We have been assured his bis nurse, nurse practitioner, and doctor that he is stable and resting comfortably.”

Wendy added, “He is heavily sedated. It is seriously hour by hour. COVID is a disease that goes through phases of ups and downs constantly, hourly, and daily. Wayne was struggling to breathe on the BiPAP and they thought it was best to let him rest and let the vent do the work as scary as that sounds.

After Wayne’s death, Wendy posted, “It is with a heavy heart that I have to let our family, friends, racers, and fans know that Wayne has passed away. We are truly devastated and heartbroken. He is already missed, and I promise his legacy will live on.”

Fellow NPK racer Mike Murillo shared, “We are a family of racers and this hits home hard. We will miss a good man from this day forward. (tuneupfitness.com) Likewise, Scott Taylor added, “Rest in peace, my friend! You were a good man, father, husband, friend, and fellow racer.”
