S11E03 of My 600 LB Life presented the story of Wess Schulze, an incredibly self-aware man who used food to cope with life-alternating childhood trauma. This man weighed 705.1 pounds when he started his journey under Younan Nowzaradan’s televised weight loss program. The first 12 months of the weight-loss journey were documented by the TLC show makers as Wess continued to make impressive improvements. And as his journey completed one whole year, his physique changed drastically.

Wess storied that after his parents divorced when he was a toddler and that, his father (a truck driver) was gone a lot for work, his older sister (7-year-old) often took care of him. He said it was food that he turned to for comfort and that someone in his family was “very sexually abusive” at the time. Again, his method of coping with the abuse was food.
On My 600-Lb Life, Wess also opened up about his complicated relationship with his dad. He said it got strained when he came out as gay. It was fortunately “continually evolving” at the time he was telling all this.

In a Facebook post from February 2023, he seemed quite happy to share just how far he had come in his mission. “OMG, I AM FREAKING OUT! I just tried on a pair of jeans… 11 inches or roughly 5 sizes smaller than I use to wear! And they are about 1 size too big!” he gushed.
Though his success with Dr. Now’s program is quite apparent now, the whole process of it was a “hell of a ride” as his fans put it. What started with his decreased ability to walk and of him being scared of becoming bed-bound and suffering from Lymphedema, his first several checkups had disappointing results.

On LinkedIn, Wess is described as an experienced accounts receivable specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the environmental services industry. However, this profile of his only explained his career from before 2018.
In 2018, between February and November, Wess worked as an A/R specialist at Accuworx-Gulf Coast. Before that, he was briefly a billing specialist at Space City Services in Houston, Texas.
For a year prior to that, he was a business administrator at Sprint Waste Services, for several years he handled affairs as a dispatcher, customer service representative, and finally operation manager at Tidal Tank in the Victoria Texas area.
