Basketball Wives Draya Michele has a 21-year-old son named Kniko Howard. Many believed Gilbert Arenas to be Kniko’s father as Michele and Gilbert were linked back in 2008 but as it turns out, no he isn’t.
To save her family’s privacy, Draya refrained from addressing rumors for a while, but she felt compelled to speak up once the Gilbert reports became unmanageable. It was false to indicate that Draya received child support payments totaling more than $40,000. She provided clarification since she felt that this rumor was disrespectful to her spirit of entrepreneurship.
Draya corrected the record in a post she made on Instagram in 2016 (via The Jasmine Brand), however, it has since been removed. She wrote under a picture of herself when she was younger, “Here is Draya ….. At 17 years old I got pregnant by a man who became incarcerated for 10 when I was 7 months pregnant. With help from my mom, I was able to survive.”
Draya continued: “Now, judging by how under-developed and young I was, besides living in a very small city in PA….. There’s no way in 2002 I got pregnant by some athlete. If I had, there’s not a chance in f–king hell I would have wasted 7 years of my life working ‘in the club’ because clearly, child support would be on fleek. I have never received A DIME of child support in my life and that’s ok. I have also NEVER attempted to say anyone other than who my son is named after (yes he’s a junior) was the father.”
The caption for the post went on, “My son’s father lives in PA and makes an honest living being a barber … I’ve been quiet too long. I’ve also let people tell ‘my story’ on TV too many times. I’ll speak my truths….. You speak your own and keep whatever momentum going by doing that. God bless. Leave the kids out of it for heaven’s sake.”
Kniko Jr has a half-brother younger than himself called Jru Scandrick. Jru was born on 8 April 2016 in Burbank, California. “We are super excited to add our sixth member to the family,” Michele told PEOPLE. “He’s such a good, healthy baby and everyone is already infatuated with him. His brother and sisters are in love.”
In 2013, Scandrick and Michele began dating. The pair has since separated several times in the public eye. The former couple broke up in 2014 as a result of Scandrick’s adultery. Socially conscious and outspoken, Draya took to the internet to criticize Orlando for making advances at other women on Instagram.
