Meet Angela Fletcher who stands out as one of the ambitious contestants taking part in The Great British Sewing Bee Season 8 on BBC One.
Angela, here, who is contesting against Man Yee, Cristian, Brogan, Mitch, Marni, Steve, Debra, Richy, Gill, Chichi, and Annie, has 50 years of sewing experience.

Angela Fletcher On The Great British Sewing Bee
Other than Angela Fletcher and the other talented sewers, the series returned with new host Sara Pascoe and returning judges Esme Young and Patrick Grant. The show then kicked off with the Pattern Challenge; the sewers were tasked with making a mini skirt complete with two patch pockets with piping around the edge.
Angela and the others had to create the skirt out of Yorkshire wool which was piled high in the haberdashery, and they could either make their own piping or chose from a ready-made selection. They had 2 hours and 45 minutes to make their creations. And luckily and with ample effort put in, it was Angela who won the very first challenge of the season.
For her standout blue skirt, she had created her own floral print piping. It went down extremely well with the judges. Esme, who is known for her uncanny ability to spot a “wonky” seam, congratulated Angela; gushing that her work was well sewn and the colors on it went well together. While Angela herself remained still very modest about the win said it was a surprise and it made her feel like she is “such a fraud” to be in the competition.
So you know, the very first episode saw theatre worker Mitch come last in the challenge and go home.

Angela Fletcher, 63 years of age, was the eldest contestant on her season of The Great British Sewing Bee. Following her in age and experience hierarchy, were 51-year-old Debra of North Wales, 50-year-old Marni of Devon, and 44-year-old Gill of Doncaster.
Who Is Angela Fletcher’s Husband?
Angela has been married to David Fletcher for some good time now.
Originally of Leyland, Lancashire, Angela’s husband is now based in Preston, Lancashire with her.
According to his BIO on Facebook, David is now retired from his former jobs as sales development manager at Preston Tyre Specialists Limited; as sales/asset manager at Direct Tyre Sales. As for his educational background, he studied Business Studies and Sports at Kirkby College back in the day.
One could also find David on Instagram where he lately showed Angela immense support for her journey on national television.
Joining Angela and her husband in their still very good marriage are their kids and four young grandchildren. Lately in February 2022, as David celebrated his birthday, there were all the grandkids, and likely even all of his kids in attendance to make sure he had a fun-filled action-packed day.
So you know, Angela and David’s kids are daughter Sarah Tipping (married to Graham Tipping) and son Bushy Fletcher, who is also married with kid(s).
Angela Fletcher Job
When not sewing, Angela Fletcher is working as an NHS health visitor and school nurse. She actually won an award for her work as a school nurse during the pandemic.
More details concerning her profession and career were not yet revealed as even her LinkedIn was not available.
As for sewing, Angela herself said on the show on BBC One that she learned it from her mother who was a dressmaker. And over the years, she also has applied her sewing and altercations skills to make money, via her arts and crafts store that she named ‘Sew Ange’. This she adds to the money she is paid from her day job.
Reportedly, the average School nurse salary in North West England is £27,633.
With The Great British Sewing Bee now she will be earning more than ever, if she wins the show and even if she does not come off as the top three winners.
