Life Below Zero: Port Protection, is a spin-off or technically a continuation of Port Protection Alaska, a NatGeo series that first premiered in 2015 and has aired ever since in several installments. The executive producer, Joseph Litzinger, promised the show will be a fresh take on the much loved first season, with an added Life Below Zero edge.

For the first time, Stuart was specially thanked for the first episode of “Out of Luck’ of the TV series in 2015. Then between that year and 2021, he rather started making recurring appearances. He did a total of 13 episodes as of 2021.
So, Stuart, as we see in Port Protection is a fisherman who takes pride in doing things his way. Viewers have also witnessed Stuart’s entrepreneurial streak run strong.

Given the place he inhabits in, fans however have been a bit worried for him because of his laid-back attitude. And in past few years, as Stuart puts in a recent Port Protection episode, his hands have taken it hard and he is slowly losing his abilities to be out there fishing, hunting, and shrimping. “Old man disease gets us all”, David Squibb, who stands next to him, says his voice filled with pure empathy. Looking at David, Stuart then says to the camera “It’s always good to have somebody around to help at.”
David has been living in Port Protection for more than 17 years.
Joining Stuart and David in the new season are OGs of the show Mary Miller, Timothy “Curly” Leech, Matt Carlson, Sam Carlson, and newcomers Morgan Turcott and Carl Hernandez. The rest, Breanna Miethe, and Oliver Johnson are not as much of newbies.
So far in this journey of the Alaskan wilderness, the show also lost some of its truest gems.
One of them is Gary Muehlberger who breathed his last year back in March 2021. He was no stranger to ultimate survival and had been thriving out in the wild in Alaska for more than 39 years.
